Welcome to the first edition of Better World Collab’s monthly newsletter!

We’ll be using this space to:

  • Share ways you can take action for progressive causes — because consuming content won’t change the world

  • Highlight good news to celebrate wins (and ward off existential depression)

  • Update our community on our recent political communications work

So, without further ado…

Take Action:

We’re working on:

  • ACLU of Montana

  • Trans Organizing and Narrative Shift Project (TONS) Project with the Equality Federation Institute

    • Door-knocking in Missouri with some members of our organizing team

      • We worked with PROMO, our state partner defending the LGBTQ+ community's rights and fighting to expand protections in MO, on their deep canvassing work.

      • When we deep canvass, we go door to door and talk to our neighbors about why we care about different issues. It’s a critical tool for fighting back against transphobia and bringing people further to acceptance for transgender folks.

      • One of the canvassers said they were involved in this work because they "hate bullies," and we couldn't agree more.

  • Equality Federation Institute State Work

    • Working with state-level LGBTQ+ organizations on communications strategy and public messaging support

    • Monitoring anti-trans ballot initiatives coming in this year’s midterm elections

  • Plus: BWC co-founder Crispin Torres gave a keynote at an LGBTQ youth conference in Chicago.

Here's Hope:

“Try as they might, the Idaho state legislature can’t seem to silence Boise’s LGBTQ Pride.”

Boise covered city flagpoles in gay and trans stripes to skirt Idaho’s ban against waving Pride flags on state-owned property, reports S. Baum in Erin In The Morning.

We love to see Boise stand up for its values and show their solidarity, even when their state promotes bigotry and distances itself from its queer residents.

A great reminder not to back down in the face of hate — but to get louder!

That’s all for April. Thanks so much for reading.
