If the sun is out, but the existential depression is still hitting you, read on for hope. Welcome back to Better World Collab’s monthly newsletter, and happy first day of Pride Month.
As we reflect on this past month, we remember that it started with Mayday, or International Workers' Day. We're proud to use our labor to push forward progressive causes.
Take Action:
It’s primary election season! Here are 5 voting rights orgs to support—
Black Voters Matter Fund: “We build Black political power…[to] protect and empower Black communities.”
Native American Rights Fund: “Protect Native American rights, resources, and lifeways through litigation [and] legal advocacy.”
Latino Justice: “Championing unfettered access to the ballot for Puerto Rican, Latino and other voters not fluent in English.”
Asian American Legal Defense and Education Fund: “Protects and promotes the civil rights of Asian Americans.”
League of Women Voters: “Protect and expand voting rights, and ensure everyone is represented in our democracy.”

We’re working on:
We teamed up with a bunch of inspiring movement leaders like Precious Brady-Davis, Jamison Green, and Riki Wilchins, at the Trans Liberation Conference in Chicago.
BWC led several intergenerational conversations and hosted a menagerie of presentations on personalized trans history.
We learned about anti-zionist trans activism, some of the earliest national trans rights groups, and trans indigenous youth experience.

We are building training models and messaging strategies to empower advocates for trans rights. We’re starting to share a toolkit that guides people through tough mindset shift conversations about trans people.
Part of our work on the Trans Organizing and Narrative Shift Project (TONS) Project with Equality Federation Institute.
We finished “A Practical and Research-Based Toolkit to Change the Narrative on Transgender People,” which highlights the findings of the project so far.
We’ve had briefings with TONS’ funders and key organizational partners.
👀 Stay tuned…pretty soon, we’ll be sharing it with all of YOU!
Abortion rights and voting rights wins in Montana.
Part of our work with ACLU Montana.
“District court rejected a challenge to…the 2024 ballot initiative that enshrined the right to an abortion in the Montana Constitution.”
“The Court’s decision affirmed that the overwhelming passage of CI-128 was constitutionally valid, finding that ‘there is no factual basis upon which Petitioner could recover based on the claim before the Court.’”
“District court judge…grant[ed] a preliminary injunction to stop implementation of a bill passed in 2025 that would have restricted Montanans' right to register and vote on election day” just ahead of the June primary election.

Movement in the Media
Trans icon and I Saw the TV Glow director wins Cannes Film Festival’s Queer Palm
“Jane Schoenbrun’s horror comedy Teenage Sex And Death At Camp Miasma…is about a queer filmmaker hired to make the latest instalment of a slasher series and the actress who played a key role in the original franchise,” reports Screen Daily.
That’s all for May. Thanks so much for reading.
