The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) works "in the courts, legislatures, and communities to defend and preserve the individual rights and liberties guaranteed to all people in this country by the Constitution and laws of the United States." As the ACLU combats the rise of anti-trans policies and legislation across the country, the organization seeks to ensure that all LGBTQ people "can live openly and authentically without discrimination, harassment, or violence."
Since 2022, BWC has worked with the ACLU to provide strategic messaging, communications, and training support within their trans justice projects, through their national political advocacy deparment. We helped trans people and allies write op-eds and prepare for public testimony, and supported numerous ACLU state affiliates in customiznig advocacy materials and resources to meet the specific needs of individual states.
